Pro Tasting
In the months of April and July of 2025, we conducted the Pro Tasting of our best global alcohol-free drinks discoveries. First with wine and then again with spirits & elixirs.
This also coincided with the founding of The Independent Panel (“T.I.P”), made up of Professional & Master Sommeliers, Wine Experts, Mixologists, Drinks Professionals and Expert Producers.
Where it all began
During our first year, Freed From started researching and tasting any and all of the non-alcoholic wines, spirits & elixirs using a team of up to twenty Sommeliers and researchers spanning the globe. We reviewed and sampled over 7,500 non-alcoholic beverages (excluding beer) in our quest for the finest in the world.
In each continent these drinks professionals judged and assessed the ‘First Taste’ of each product, and around 9% of what we had sampled internationally was then sent to our offices in London.
Out of the 7,500 drinks, a colossal 550 non-alcoholic wines and 180 alcohol-free Spirits & Elixirs were chosen and presented to The Independent Panel (‘T.I.P’), for their assessment and review.
Non-Alcoholic Wine Sommelier Pro Taste
From April 3rd – 9th, the Sommeliers and Wine Experts of The Independent Panel (‘T.I.P’) performed a thorough and comprehensive review of the best non-alcoholic wines. Over the five days, they tasted and reviewed over 100 non-alcoholic wines per day.
Each day consisted of:
Day 1 – Red wines (traditional still)
Day 2 – White wines (traditional still)
- Day 3 – Alternative wines (non-traditional grape-based, apple-based, tea-based, etc…)
Day 4 – Rosé wines (both traditional still and sparkling)
Day 5 – Sparkling white wines (traditional)
All of which were 0.5 ABV or less.

Non-Alcoholic Spirit & Elixir Pro Taste
From July 2nd – 7th, it was the turn of the Mixologists and Spirit & Drink Experts of The Independent Panel (‘T.I.P’) to be let loose at our tasting HQ in Notting Hill.
They tasted and reviewed over 180 non-alcoholic Spirits, Elixir, Cordialities, Mixers, Flavourings and Bitters each day over three days, with the fourth and final day set aside for shooting reveal videos.
Each day was a selection of:
Spirits – Gin, White & Brown Rum, Whisky, Scotch, Bourbon, Tequila, Vermouth and Alternate Liqueur
Aperitivo & Digestive – Amaro, Amaretto, Aperol, Campari, Digestive, Limoncello, Spritz and Alternative Aperitivo
Elixir – Elixir (Juice), Elixir (Whisky), Elixir Ginger (Original), Elixir Ginger (With Something Else), Elixir Ginger (No Sugar), Elixir Alternative, Elixir (Syrup/Cordial/Punch) and Elixir (Mood Enhancer)
All of which were 0.5 ABV or less.

From these expert’s tireless work during these tastings, we are delighted to now have a list of which over 300 products ‘Made the Grade™’.
